Clitheroe’s Nick Dinsdale won the National Duathlon Championship (Age-Group) to qualify for the 2013 World Duathlon Championship in Ottowa along with former Olympian James Cracknell OBE.

Dinsdale, 59, competed in the Annual Cambridge Duathlon, winning the 55-59 age group national title by three clear minutes – and hopes for more success next year in the 60-64 category.

And his victory means he will travel to Canada in August for the ETU Standard Distance Duathlon World Championships.

Double Olympic gold medalist, James Cracknell OBE finished third in the 40-44 years age group and also qualified.

Duathlon is an athletic event that consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg.
