DOLPHINS’ Micro League Team did the club proud at the weekend in Blackpool as they were promoted to the orth West Micro-League top flight for the first time in a swim-off.
Swimming against the Champions of Division B, Liverpool Penguins, and the bottom two teams from Division A, Pioneer 79 and Fleetwood, all the team put in great performances, helping earn a second-place finish, which means promotion.
After 12 events, Dolphins were in third place but only one point behind Liverpool in second.
Some great individual swims saw Dolphins move into second after 24 races and they maintained this all the way to the end of the gala.
The Micro League team captains Joseph Kenny and Charlie Coy were presented with the promotion trophy, and club coach Dean Sumner said: “I am so proud. My first gala three years ago was a relegation battle when Dolphins were nearly relegated to Division C.
“To now get them into the top division for the first time is a testament to all the hard work the swimmers are putting in at training and the support of their parents.”
