Busy week for golf at Mytton

Mytton Fold Golf Club’s ladies have had a busy week, with the Past Captain’s meal, held at the Hotel last Friday.

On Monday, following the monthly Ladies’ Meeting, the group enjoyed an instructive and potentially life-saving Heartstart training session, led by Diane Lloyd and Gordon Fishlock from the Whalley and District Community First Responders Group.

The lady members were told how golf clubs were potential hot spots for heart attacks, and, through a series of videos, demonstrations and practical hands-on activities, learnt how to place a patient in the recovery position, perform CPR, recognise symptoms of heart attacks, deal with choking and with severe bleeding.

Meanwhile, the men, despite horrendous weather conditions over the weekend, enjoyed a 3½-1½ win over Stonyhurst Golf Club.

Unfortunately the Stonyhurst course was closed due to torrential rain, but as Mytton Fold was still open, it was agreed to play the first round Daily Mail qualifier at the away course.
