Meanwhile, Saturday saw Whalley members compete in the second medal competition of the season.
The strong winds and cold conditions made scoring very difficult, and it was testament to the field that such good scores were carded.
Course record holder, Danny Liles took to the conditions the best, winning with a superb four under par knock of 71-3-68.
The Division One winner was Aaron Ripley (77-6-71) from Rob Andrew (74-1-73), Division Two went to Roy Ellis (87-14-73) ahead of Bruce Stewart (90-16-74), and the Division Three winner was Les McCormick (90-19-71), edging John Sherry (90-19-71) into runners-up spot.
The best gross prize went to Chris Blackadder with 79. The seniors’ prize went to Derek Wood (94-22-72).
There were four twos for John Rostron, Andy Wray, Aaron Ripley and Andy Thompson.
