OLYMPIC silver medalist Samantha Murray is backing a new fencing club in Clitheroe.

Murray competes in fencing as part of the modern pentathlon, and with interest growing in the sport on the back of London 2012, a club has opened every Wednesday night from 7-30 to 9-30 p.m. at the Ribble Valley Tennis Centre, opposite Ribblesdale Pool.

The price is £7 per night, or £60 for 10 weeks.

All equipment is provided for all shapes and sizes, and children and adults are welcome.

For more details, contact coach Dave Varey (07738488430).

• GAME been called off? No fixture this week? Just got to play?

Local football coaching company Future Stars Football Coaching has launched its new football scheme; Friday Night is Match Night, from 6-8 p.m., for £2-50 per child.

The night is for boys and girls aged six to 12.

Players will play and warm up with their own age and size groups, with the emphasis on matches, fun and non-stop activity.

If you have ever been to a Future Stars training session or holiday camp before, you can bring a friend who hasn’t attended a session before and make it two for the price of one for that night!

So if you are fed up of you game being called off due to the weather and want to learn some new skills, make new friends and play the beautiful game each week, go down to Roefield Astroturf Pitches, Edisford Road, Clitheroe.

Each player needs a drink, must be wearing shin pads and have suitable footwear for an astro turf surface.

To book your child on call Henry Kay on 07964909103, or email futurestarsfootball@hotmail.co.uk
