Alan claims victory in age group in Pendle Fell Race

Starting from Barley, the Pendle Fell Race earlier this month attracted 291 runners.

Among them was Clitheroe resident Alan Life.

Finishing in a time of 39 minutes 16 seconds, Alan was the first veteran over 50, to become Lancashire champion for his age group – finishing 27th overall.

Alan is also the Kendal Winter League over 50 champion.

The race – part of the Lancashire Championship, over 7.3km – was won by Tom Addison of Helm Hill Runners in 32:40, ahead of Ben Mounsey (Calder Valley FellRunners, 33:14), with Mark Addison (Helm Hill Runners, 33:54) finishing in third.

There were also English and Lancashire Championship Races for Under 12s to Under 18s.

Junior winners were – Under 8s, Finlay Petrucci (Keighley and Craven AC, 2:39), Under 10s Cian Healy (Horwich RMI Harriers, 4:39), Under 12s Fraser Sproul (Kendal AAC, 13:39), Under 14s Josh Dickinson (City of York AC, 18:04), Under 16 Joshua Boyle (Blackburn Harriers, 19:41), and Under 18 Lewis Byram (Holmfirth Harriers, 26:56).
