There was a special ending to the regular Clitheroe Golf Club Lady Members’ Bridge Drive when a surprise presentation was made to Doris Farnsworth who celebrated her 100th birthday.

The Lady Captain, Mrs Maureen Micklewright, presented Doris with a bottle of Scotch whisky, her favourite tipple, and a card to celebrate the occasion.

A regular bridge player, Doris has competed with the Clitheroe Ladies for several years.

Remarkably, she was not the oldest participant at Wednesday’s Bridge Drive as also present was Connie Hindle, a former playing member of the golf club, who will celebrate her 101st this year. Both Doris and Connie are regular bridge players and retain a keen interest in the game.

Tea and scones were served at the conclusion of the bridge drive. The winners were Mary Wallace and Norma Hoyle; runners-up were Eva Velvick & Joan Scott and nearest zero were Vanessa Cameron & Glenda Heanan.
