Read had a mixed weekend in their chase for a LCB Knockout place.
On Saturday, they saw off rivals Whalley by seven wickets at Station Road, before going down by 74 runs at home to Baxenden on Sunday.
Against Whalley, Brandon Scullard took 5-38 as the hosts were dismissed for 80, and Read knocked off the winning runs with three wickets down.
Against Baxenden, the visitors made 160, as Ben Swindells took 5-49, but Read were dismissed for just 86 as Kurt Smithson hit 50.
Read end the season at home to Oswaldtwistle Immanuel on Saturday.
Padiham’s promising end to the season couldn’t extend to their final game, as they lost to Brooksbottom by 45 runs, bowled out for 204 chasing the visitors’ 249-3. Ashley Gowers hit 134 not out for Brox, with captain Callum Clarke top-scoring with 53 in reply.
