Golf Rossendale driving range tees up top award

GOLF Rossendale Driving Range & Academy is celebrating after scooping a top award.

The driving range, based at Marl Pits, Rawtenstall was awarded the coveted Rangemark accreditation by England Golf..

The award recognises those stand-alone ranges that are at the forefront of developing the sport of golf.

Golf Rossendale is one of only two driving ranges in Lancashire to have achieved Rangemark.

Golf Rossendale Managing Director Scott Grundy said: “We are really proud of this award and it is a testament to the hard work of all our staff that we have achieved it in such a short space of time.

“We have only been open for 15 months and it that time our coaching programmes have gone from strength to strength.

“We have more than 80 children in our vibrant Junior Academy programme, we offer group lessons for ladies, and we work closely with local schools to introduce as many people as possible to this fantastic sport.

“This year our Junior Academy members are going to take part in the National Skills challenge where they will compete against young golfers from across the country. We have some really talented youngsters in our Academy and hopefully they can bring some silverware back to the Valley.”

Melanie Flude, Regional Development Officer for England Golf, said: “I would like to congratulate Golf Rossendale Driving Range & Academy in achieving Rangemark. This award shows that Golf Rossendale is a quality range and is constantly working hard to increase participation in golf and develop opportunities for Juniors and beginners in the sport.”
