England Under 21s host Portugal at Turf Moor tonight (kick-off 7-45 p.m.), with the prospect of three Burnley players being involved.
Striker Danny Ings, midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah and defender Michael Keane - who had a spell on loan with Blackburn Rovers last season - were all named in Gareth Southgate’s squad last Thursday, as preparations begin for the European Championship Finals in the summer.
And Southgate, at Turf Moor for the recent game with West Ham, is eagerly anticipating the occasion.
Speaking to thefa.com. he said: “I’m looking forward to seeing us play at Turf Moor.
“I’ve been on quite a few scouting trips to Burnley over the last year or so, with Danny Ings being involved with us and now with Nat Chalobah and Michael Keane there on loan.
“I always think there’s a fantastic atmosphere and it’s a passionate town who really support their club well and I know there’s massive support for England as well.
“I know of the pride that the whole town took when we first picked Danny for England.
“It’s a very warm and friendly club whenever I go and I’m sure we’ll get a good attendance for what will be a really attractive game.”
Tickets for the game at Turf Moor cost £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
