On Sunday, Hurst Green youth team were defeated for the first time this season by a strong Bolton Boys’ Club.

After half an hour, Bolton opened the scoring following a defensive lapse by the Green defence.

However, the teams went in level at the break after striker Oli Shipston was fouled as he raced into the penalty area and skipper George Young calmly slotted home the resulting penalty.

Hurst Green started the second half brightly and were in control of the game until Bolton scored a well-executed free kick on 55 minutes.

Shortly after this, Bolton capitalised on another defensive lapse to give them a two-goal advantage against the run of play.

Hurst Green fought hard to get back into the match but unfortunately found the Bolton keeper in fine form and when man of the match Max Hutchinson crashed a 25 yard rocket against the bar the Green lads knew it wasn’t going to be their day.

The match was sponsored by Hurst Green Plastics.
