Striker Sam Vokes hailed a great team performance as Burnley earned a 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Vokes and Danny Ings goals gave the Clarets a 2-1 success, and. ahead of linking up with Wales for their friendly against the Republic of Ireland tomorrow night, he said: “It was a great away performance by the boys.
“We had to dig in hard in the second half but it paid off in the end.
“We came out strong and played some good football in the first half and in the second half we had to dig in.
“They lumped a few big balls into the box and they’ve got some big boys.
“It was good for us to dig in and get the three points.”
Vokes made it 2-0 with his first goal of the season, and he was delighted to get off the mark: “It was a fantastic ball from Tripps (Kieran Trippier) and I managed to loop it over into the back stick.
“Tripps and Ross Wallace worked well together as they do every week and Tripps put a fantastic ball in as he does every week and I managed to get on the end of it, which was good.
“It’s good for me to get off the mark. As a striker that’s what you want to do in the first few games of the season and hopefully there are more to come.
“I think the boys have shown a lot of strength and got two wins on the bounce.”
