Sefton hits the ground running on his return to Shawbridge

Sefton Gonzales hit the ground running after his return to Clitheroe.

The striker netted twice in a 3-0 win over an Accrington Stanley XI at Shawbridge on Saturday.

And he also found the net on Tuesday night in a 1-1 draw at Ashton Athletic’s Brocstedes Park.

The former Chorley and Stockport County frontman put Simon Haworth’s side ahead 10 minutes into the second half, before the hosts levelled matters 15 minutes from time.

Clitheroe have two more pre-season friendlies before their Evo-Stik First Division North campaign begins on Saturday, August 12th.

On Saturday, the Blues travel to Silsden (kick-off 3 p.m.), before hosting Workington Town a week on Saturday at Shawbridge (kick-off 3 p.m.).

Clitheroe open their league campaign at home to Droylsden, before a trip to Glossop North End on Tuesday, August 15th.

They are then at Billingham Town or Pickering Town in the Emirates FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday, August 19th, with a home league game against Scarborough Athletic on Saturday, the 26th, and a trip to Kendal Town on the 28th.
