OVER £600 was raised for the Young Oncology Unit at Christie’s Hospital in Manchester after Ribble Valley footballers took part in a charity tournament.

Pictured are the two finalists Rimington FC and The Smooth Operators, with Nathan Catchpole (centre), from Langho, who was treated at Christie’s last year for leukaemia.

The winning team was Rimington FC, captained by Glen Dinsdale, who beat Martin Grindrod’s The Smooth Operators 4-1 at Powerleague Blackburn, with the venue switched from Langho FC’s Northcote site due to poor weather.

The funds raised will go towards Catchpole’s fundraising initiative be_MACHINE and donated to Christie’s.

More info on be_MACHINE is available on www.bemachine.co.uk

The organisers would like to thank all the teams who played, Langho FC, Powerleague Blackburn, Phil Taylor at the-B-all uk ltd, Andrew Ronnan, Neil Baxter, Michael Frankland, Ellis Neary, Thomas Briggs, Bar No.1 and Alex Johnson.
