Following an unbeaten start to the season Readstone Juniors Under 10s were playing hosts to Rossendale Valley Stags at Read Cricket Club.

Readstone joined the East Lancs Football Alliance this season after a previous tough season in the North Valley Junior League.

Rossendale had the early chances but Jack Leaver got the first goal of the match after a good through-ball from Toby Pilkington.

In the final minutes of the first half Readstone struck twice in two minutes as Leaver netted his hat-trick first half hat trick.

Thomas Jordan made it 3-1 to the visitors.

Great support from the crowd urged Rossendale to a second and Jordan once again slotted the ball past Readstone keeper Jack Thorpe.

In the final minute of the game a goal mouth scramble saw the ball nearly cross the Readstone goal line to make it 3-3 but the referee ruled it still in play.

After a quick counter attack Pilkington once again set up Leaver to finish the game with a strong strike into the roof of the net.

The game finished 4-2.
