A referee from Read gave fellow officials their marching orders after landing East Lancashire’s 2014 most improved junior referee accolade.
Clarets fan Oliver Robinson has only been officiating for eight months after completing a course at the Lancashire FA.
The 15-year-old’s first game in charge was an Under 9’s match in Haslingden but he’s since attained his level eight badge - the highest the teenager can achieve - and risen through the ranks.
Oliver has been an assistant referee at the Under 15’s East Lancashire School’s final at Brockhall, officiated Blackburn Rovers Academy games, appointed as an assistant referee at Nelson FC’s Victoria Park for an Asian Cup qualifying match, as well as regularly refereeing youth matches on Sunday’s.
His dad, Chris, said: “Oliver is very highly regarded in the refereeing world. His greatest achievement so far was refereeing on his beloved Turf Moor for a charity match last week.”
