Pro-Future Under 11s became the first northern team to win the prestigious National Aces Championship in Leicester on Saturday.
The local side, based out of Oakhill Academy, were invited to take part in the all-cities elite shield, which is open to only league champions, cup winners and county champions from around the country.
The tournament was sponsored by Shoot magazine.
Pro-future represented Blackburn and competed in the group stages along with Gloucester, Leicester, Enfield, Bristol, Felixstowe and Portsmouth.
They topped the group with five wins and a draw.
In the quarter-finals they beat Southampton, and in the semis again beat Portsmouth.
In the final Pro-future faced a very strong Leicester side, with the game finishing 1-1 and going to penalties.
The lads stayed calm after a very long and tiring day to take the championship on spot kicks, winning 4-3 to become the first northern winners, in all age groups, in the five years the competition has been running.
Pro-Future will return next year in the Under 12s’ tournament to defend their title.
