King scores a brace as Clitheroe Wolves score big win

MATTHEW King scored twice as Wolves eased to victory.

After King’s early strike was saved by the Lammack keeper, the match settled into a midfield exchange.

Wolves broke through, and after Harry Jackson fired wide, King headed a Connor Jackson corner into the net to open the scoring.

Harry Jackson was then denied before a long-range Lammack strike went wide.

Jamie Thornber’s shot was saved and Kit Lloyd wenmt close before James Prendergast was called into action to save a Lammack strike.

Wolves again went on the attack, with Connor Jackson firing over the bar and wide before King again struck.

Lammacks’ next strike went wide and George Bland had an effort saved just before half-time.

In the second half, goals from Bland and another from King took Wolves further ahead.

Prendergast made another save, Connor Jackson had an effort saved, King hit the crossbar and the Lammack struck from distance before the end of the match.

Man of the match was awarded to Joe Briggs.

WOLVES played well in a tough fixture at Blacksnape against Blackburn United.

Wolves demonstrated skill and determination in the first half, with good link up play from Jacob Crompton and Mark Walker

At half-time it was all to play for, yet despite chances from Wolves, it proved difficult to get through a tight United defence.

Newcomer Harry Oldroyd was superb throughout the game, showing real passion to get on the ball, and truly owned his place in the squad.

Defenders Joe Wilkinson Cameron Smith were unable to stop the barrage from United and after three goals it was soon game over for Wolves.

Nevertheless Wolves played well and showed team spirit.

Man of the match was Harry Oldroyd.
