Whalley’s Joe Garner was a double-award winner at the North West Football Awards at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
The Preston North End striker was named League 1 Player of the Year - taking the title from teammate John Welsh, who won the accolade last year.
And the 26-year-old also won the Goal of the Year gong for his sensational volley in the play-off semi-final first leg at Deepdale against Rotherham - beating off competition from the likes of Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez, Yaya Toure, Ross Barkley and Burnley’s Ashley Barnes.
Garner has enjoyed a remarkable year with North End.
He hit 24 goals last season as Preston made the play-offs, and the former Carlisle United and Nottingham Forest man has added another 12 so far this term - making it 28 for the calendar year - as Preston have emerged as one of the promotion frontrunners.
