Rimington beat Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s 3-0 away from home in an important East Lancashire League fixture.

The first half was fairly even, with neither team able to get a foothold and take the game by the scruff of the neck.

The second half started at a high tempo with both teams looking to impose themselves.

Rimington made their first change with the introduction of Glen Dinsdale. Marauding runs from Lewis Crumpstey down the right flank eventually gave Ben Allen the opportunity to open the scoring on 65 minutes with a back post header.

Conceding the goal took the fight away from Ossy, and with the introduction of Charlie Collinge, Rimington upped the tempo.

On 73 minutes, neat interplplay lead to Oliver McClean feeding Allen, who doubled his tally for the day and effectively sealed the points.

With Rimington on top and having more possession, the third goal was inevitable, and it duly came on 84 minutes when Jordan Walmsley delivered an inch-perfect cross that Dinsdale dispatched into the bottom corner with a sublime overhead kick.

Saturday sees a local derby away against Langho for the Tangerines.
