• HARRY Dewhurst Memorial League champions Dog Inn warmed up for the new season with a comfortable 6-1 win over Station at Memorial Park.
There were two goals apiece from Charlie Collinge and the returning Oli McLean, with debutant Anton Gawthorpe and Pete Hogan also on the scoresheet.
Manager Simon Kerins is looking forward to the new season, which begins on Sunday with a trip to Helmshore Harriers at Haslingden Sports Centre:
He said: “Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of our two pre-season games has been the ease with which the new recruits have settled into the side.
“It has happened seamlessly, which is so important given the need for strength in depth.
“Winning the title last season was a wonderful achievement and we obviously want to defend it.
“It would also be lovely to win the cup at Accrington Stanley, but we have no divine right to win either trophy and everyone understands that eight months of hard work lies ahead.
“However, everything is in place for another great season.”
