Former Clitheroe Wolves youngster Joe Garner is back on the goal trail – and gunning for Burnley.

Garner, who hails from Whalley, had to wait until last Saturday for his first Championship goal of the season, a consolation in Preston North End’s 2-1 derby defeat at Deepdale against former club Blackburn Rovers.

And on Saturday, having got off the mark at the 16th-attempt, he backed that up with the opener in North End’s 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

And the 27-year-old said: “It’s always nice to score, so I was pleased, but I would have been delighted if it had finished 1-0.

“It’s a good point but I wouldn’t say we were pleased with it to be honest because we probably could have gone in 2-0 up at half time.

“We look forward to the weekend now and hopefully we can pick up three points.

“I always knew I could score goals and if I get myself in the right position I know I will get chances I just need to concentrate and take them.”

Preston are at Burnley on Saturday.
