Scores of spectators turned out to support the Primary School Games county finals, which are now part of the national £128m school games programme and are sponsored by James Hall & Company Ltd, the SPAR distributors for the North of England.

The county finals saw hundreds of pupils from across Lancashire represent their district in sports including high 5 netball, key steps gymnastics, mini tennis, girls’ football, quadkids and tri-golf.

Mr Richard Varey, chairman of the Lancashire School Games organising committee and Burnley’s Blessed Trinity RC College Headteacher, said: “Congratulations to all of the pupils from Ribble Valley who can count themselves among the highest achievers in the county.

“The SPAR Lancashire Primary School Games were a huge success and children from more than 50 schools participated in sport and cultural events which have been designed to build on the magic of 2012.”
