Former Clitheroe FC winger Danny Williams came on as a second half substitute to help Inverness Caledonian Thistle lift the Scottish Cup at Glasgow’s Hampden Park.
The 27-year-old winger replaced striker Aaron Doran in the 78th minute of the final against Championship outfit Falkirk with his side leading through Marley Watkins’ opener.
Peter Grant levelled for the Bairns with 10 minutes remaining after Caley defender Carl Tremarco had been dismissed but the 10-men restored their lead in the 86th minute through James Vincent.
It was the first time that the club had ever won the competition.
Williams, who made 41 appearances for Caley in all competitions throughout the term, had netted in the fourth round of the tie as they beat St Mirren on home soil.
The one-time Blue was brought to Shawbridge in 2010 from FC United by Carl Garner and he went on to feature for Kendal Town and Chester before heading north to the SPL.
