FORMER Burnley and Manchester United ladies star Rhesia Baron delivered a football masterclass when Moorland School hosted a visiting party from Thailand.
Rhesia, from Accrington, has coached and studied at Milwaukee University in America and has also starred in several UEFA training videos.
“The girls were really skilful – I was very impressed with their level of football talent,” said Rhesia.
The Thai girls, sporting Manchester City shirts, watched Monday’s Manchester derby and also visited Old Trafford and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Thai teacher Kansala Wanuntho said: “Football for girls is not common in Thailand, but the coaching by Charlie Jackson, Moorland School’s football coach, was fantastic and the girls learned so much.
“Everybody at Moorland School made us really welcome and the girls enjoyed every minute of their trip because England seems such a friendly country.”
Moorland have forged a reputation for nurturing young talent, with Manchester United striker John Cofie joining Burnley from the Clitheroe school, before his switch to Old Trafford in 2007.
Moorland’s director of Studies Saleem Ahmed said: “This is the second time we’ve had a football/cultural exchange with Thailand and it was really special to see children from another country enjoying our football courses and making new friends.”
