A presentation was held at Stonyhurst Park Golf Club to hand over the money raisedfrom the Rovers v Burnley charity day held at the end of August.

The day was organised by Men’s Captain and Lady Captain, husband and wife Jim and Jan Walker who support Rovers and Burnley respectively, along with representatives from the former Players Associations from each team.

As well as everyone having a great time, £3,000 was raised from the day, split between Blackburn Rovers F.P.A, Burnley F.C. F.P.A. and S.P.G.C. ‘s chosen charity, Prostate Cancer UK.

Receiving their cheques, the picture shows from left to right, Ken Beamish (Rovers F.P.A.), Jim Walker (SPGC Men’s Captain), Ian Britton (Burnley F.C. F.P.A. and Prostate Cancer U.K. supporter), Veronica Simpson (Burnley F.C. F.P.A. co-ordinator), John Heyworth (Prostate Cancer UK awareness speaker), Ian Brennan (Burnley F.C. F.P.A) and Jan Walker (Lady Captain S.P.G.C.). Not on the picture, but a great help in the organisation of the event, was Brian Marsden who co-ordinated the input from Rovers F.P.A. and his wife Sue who kindly took the picture of the presentation.

This event rounded off a great year of fund-raising for S.P.G.C. with the year’s total getting close to £10,000.
