Dog Inn continued their winning start to their title defence with this well deserved win at Memorial Park.

Not even several late enforced selection changes could derail the Whalley side, sporting their new kit from sponsors Darbyshire & Co. Accountancy Practice.

They took the lead midway through the first half when, having been hauled down in the penalty area, captain Jamie Enefer gave them the lead from the penalty spot.

Ultras levelled minutes later and the game hung in the balance until midway through the second half, when a quickfire Oli McLean brace opened up a two-goal lead for Dog.

With midfield dynamo Pete Fletcher in outstanding man-of-the-match form as a stand-in goalkeeper, Dog had the confidence to press home their advantage. Left-back Jake Ingham headed home from yet another pinpoint Charlie Collinge corner, before rounding off a stunning passing move with his second and his side’s fifth goal.

Defensive slackness then gifted Ultras two late consolation goals and gave the scoreline a closer look than was really the case.

Manager Simon Kerins was delighted with a win that takes his side three points clear at the top of the early season-table.

Final Score: Stanley Ultras 3, Dog Inn 5
