BALDERSTONE St Leonard’s CE Primary School have won the Ribble Valley Schools Football Shield for the first time.

Having won their qualifying rounds earlier in the term, the final was played at Whalley, with Simonstone the opposition.

The game was pretty even for the first five minutes, with Simonstone breaking forward on a few occasions.

Ben, Adam and Seb did a fine job in keeping Simonstone at bay, and it spurred the front runners into action.

Balderstone looked comfortable once they scored their first, and they went on to claim a 7-0 victory, with goals from Corey, James, Lewis and Usman.

Simonstone must be commended on their efforts as they never gave up, and the sportsmanship of both teams was a credit to their respective schools.
