READ United will be wondering how they left this encounter empty handed after a dominant display at Feniscowles and Pleasington.

Feniscowles’ Danny Miller stealthily arrived in the area midway through the first half to ultimately settle matters with a neat finish from 12 yards.

After an enforced three-month break due to the big freeze, United thawed well, knocking the ball about confidently in the early exchanges.

Read full back Leigh Slater left his station, galloping forward to unleash a stinging drive that the keeper turned round the post.

An insipid display by Fenniscowles was not punished by United, with Richard Wilson, Dominic Counsell and Kyle O’Connor all guilty of blazing wide when clean through.

Callum Clarke was thwarted early in the second half, his cute finish matched by the keeper, O’Connor the architect.

Injured top scorer Andy Bennett was introduced and instantly flashed a shot just wide, before Clarke was again denied after a slick passing move.

Feniscowles were happy to play on the counter-attack as Miller’s snap-shot was well saved by Nick Galea.

The visitors turned the screw, Thomas Harper saw his drive parried, then in the dying embers, Bennett should have scored from 10 yards but found the keeper’s grateful gloves as the hosts held on.
