After 12 seasons in The Harry Dewhurst Memorial League, Dog Inn will play their football in The Blackburn Sunday League next season.
The move is due to growing uncertainty over the future of The Harry Dewhurst Memorial League, along with a shared desire for the Whalley side to face new challenges.
Manager Simon Kerins, who has served on The Harry Dewhurst Memorial League committee since 2002, said: “Harry was a wonderful man and I have nothing but good things to say about the league and committee. However, with falling numbers, my priority had to be ensuring that we would be playing competitive football next season.
“After all, I could hardly put things on hold for a year, then expect people to come flooding back for the 2014-15 season; that would have undone all the excellent work that has been done - both on and off the field - since 2001.
“Moving to a new league will obviously bring fresh challenges, but the players and I are ready for those challenges.”
