Smithy Row saw a 15 goal thriller on Saturday as Hurst Green destroyed a sorry Colne side.
The home side raced into the lead with Paul Chippendale opening up the scoring after five minutes, and then midfielder Coonan scored a volley seconds after.
Chippendale scored a lovely flick header from a teasing Simon Lakeland corner to make it three, and Green continued to run amok as, after good work from Chippendale down the right, Sam Williams bundled home the fourth.
Colne rarely threatened, but the visitors were given an early Easter present as the referee awarded them a penalty following an innocuous shoulder barge from Walker, The visitors’ miserable afternoon continued as the penalty was blazed over.
Green didn’t hang around as Chippendale again set up another goal, this time Enefer finishingneatly into the far corner, and then Bamber powered in a header from another Lakeland corner to make it six without reply.
The home side began the second half a little sloppy and gifted the visitors a goal as a free kick was swung in and Young was left exposed to a free header.
However the six-goal advantage was restored as Adam Lakeland scored the first of his hat trick, after another Chippendale assist.
Lakeland grabbed his second not long after with a shot on the turn, before Enefer grabbed his second with a shot into the far corner.
Lakeland completed his hat-trick, and Green’s last and best goal fell to Simon Lakeland with a stunning 25-yard volley into the far corner.
Colne scored three goals late on including two comical own goals, but Green stay on target for a top three finish and host league leaders Mill Hill a week tonight (kick-off 6-15 p.m.).
Final Score: Hurst Green 11, Colne United 4
