CLITHEROE Royal Grammar School’s Year 8 and 9 boys’ football squads recently travelled to Barcelona for their annual sports trip.

Over the five-day tour they took on both English and Spanish opposition and performed extremely well. The Year 9 squad won the round-robin tournament, winning all 3 of their fixtures, while the Year 8 squad fought hard and made great progress.

Against the Spanish opposition under floodlights, both teams experienced great success. The Year 8 squad drew 4-4 as Adam Bolton scored a hat-trick, and the Year 9s dominated a physical match from the first minute and won 3-1. Andrew Blackburn was named man of the match.

The trip also allowed the boys to experience some free time at Port Aventura Theme Park, Camp Nou and Las Ramblas.
