Clitheroe Wolves Under 11s Reds finished double runners-up in the highly competitive East Lancashire Alliance League.

After again making it through to the Cup Final, and losing to a very physical Mill Hill Red, they then faced Fulledge Colts in the league play-off, after the teams had finished on level points in the league.

The play-off was a fabulous, thrilling, fast and hard-fought match from start to finish, at times made more difficult for the players due to the changing windy conditions.

A Joe Wilson free kick was saved by the Fulledge keeper before Connor Jackson fired wide and Ben England was denied before a Fulledge corner kick rebounded off the post and into the net to take the lead.

The first half continued with end-to-end action, as Joe Wilson and George Bland went close, Fulledge shot over the bar and Wolves keeper James Prendergast made two good saves before Harry Jackson levelled the score just before half-time.

The second half continued in the same manner, with end-to-end play and both keepers holding strong, and as the whistle blew the match headed into extra time.

Both teams gave everything, the pace never lessening as the clock ticked down, but with nothing to separate them, the game inevitably went to a penalty shoot-out.

Agonisingly for Wolves, they had to settle for the runners-up slot as Fulledge triumphed to claim the league title.
