Clitheroe have lost skipper Lee Pugh to Chester City, newly-promoted to the Blue Square Conference.
Pugh, brother of Bournemouth winger Marc, has agreed a one-year deal at the Exacta Stadium with the Blues, and is looking forward to his new challenge.
The 20-year-old said: “I’d had a few offers from Conference North sides but once I knew Chester were interested, it was a no brainer to join the club.
“I came to see Marc in the FA Cup match where Chester played Bury, and I got a good feel for the club then, and it’s a great ground with a great set of fans, and my aim is to get a starting place and show them what I can do.
“It was a real achievement for me to get the Captain’s armband at Clitheroe, and I know people will point to the fact that it’s a big step up, but I’m ready to prove myself in the Conference.”
The Blues were certainly not willing to stand in the way of Pugh, and a Clitheroe FC statement read: “Lee goes with our best wishes for the future.
“It is a great opportunity for him.”
