Clitheroe boss Simon Garner has praised the response of his players since he replaced Paul Moore in the Shawbridge hot seat.

Garner was faced with a depleted squad on his arrival at the club, but he has so far added seven new faces, including Fleetwood trio goalkeeper Josh Ollerenshaw, defender Ben Cartwright and striker Aiden Wainwright.

Midfielder Scott Byrom, striker Sefton Gonzales, full back Anthony Harkness and midfielder George Wysocki have also been snapped up.

After picking up his 13th point from six fixtures as boss in a 3-2 win over Ossett Town, Garner said: “We will continue to improve the squad. We want to add that competition for places, but the lads have conducted themselves really well.

“They have been superb and are taking on board the way we want to approach games and play.”

• Clitheroe exited the Doodson Cup at the first round stage on Tuesday night, losing 3-0 at Radcliffe Borough to goals from David Sherlock (4), Bradley Robinson (11) and Daniel White (83).
