Burnley are set to unveil Everton striker Chris Long as their third summer signing today.

While the precise nature of the deal is to be confirmed, the 20-year-old is expected to tie up a move to Turf Moor after a slight delay yesterday evening.

Long joined Everton as a five-year-old, and signed a two-year professional contract in July 2013.

He was called into the first team for Everton’s Europa League group stage match versus Krasnodar, and made his debut when he came on for Conor McAleny after 80 minutes of a 1–0 defeat.

In January 2014, Long signed for League 1 Milton Keynes Dons on a one-month loan, scoring on his debut against Shrewsbury Town, his only goal in four appearances for the Dons.

And this January, Long joined Championship side Brentford on loan to the end of the season.

He scored his first Bees goal on his fifth appearance against Bournemouth, and scored twice on his first start against Huddersfield Town.

He made it four goals in five games against Blackburn Rovers, before illness and injury kept him out until Brentford’s play-off semi-final second leg defeat to Middlesbrough.

Long has represented England from Under 16 to Under 20 level, and could be in line to feature in Burnley’s penultimate pre-season friendly at Fleetwood Town tonight.

Burnley, meanwhile, have been linked with Chesterfield right back Tendayi Darikwa, who impressed against the Clarets at the Proact Stadium on Saturday. The 23-year-old has been the subject of an unsuccessful bid from Championship rivals Preston North End.
