Dog Inn captain Nick Lord was the worthy winner of the Players’ Player of the Year at the Whalley club’s annual end-of-season awards event.

He beat last year’s winner Olly Steele into second place, with Elliot Bywater taking third spot.

Veteran defender Dave Dewhurst, who first played for the club between 2003 and 2006, was Simon Kerins’ choice as Manager’s Player. Simon Holgate won the Top Goalscorer prize.

Simon Kerins said: “This was a nice way to round off what has been a most challenging year. We have survived the various trials and tribulations and there is no reason why, with more commitment, we cannot mount a serious challenge for honours in 2014-15; we certainly have the players capable of doing so.”
