Burnley youngster Howieson gets New Zealand call

CALL UP: Cameron Howieson

CALL UP: Cameron Howieson

CLARETS’ teenager Cameron Howieson has been called up by New Zealand for an international against China on Wednesday.

The midfielder, 17, has flown out to link up with the All Whites ahead of the friendly in Shanghai.

Howieson won a first full cap during the summer before representing New Zealand at the Olympic Games.

His selection means he will be unavailable for the Clarets’ Youth Alliance League Cup tie against Walsall on Wednesday.

Howieson joins Turf Moor team-mate Danny Lafferty on international duty after Lafferty was added to Northern Ireland’s squad for their World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan in Belfast on Wednesday night.
