Ade in line for Dynamo debut
ADE Akinbiyi insists he still has a lot to offer football, as he awaits his Houston Dynamo debut at the weekend.
The 34-year-old was introduced to the media on Monday, ahead of tying up a few loose ends back at Turf Moor.
Akinbiyi could link up with his new teammates on Friday in Washington, ahead of Saturday's match at DC United.
He flew to Houston last Friday and passed a medical on Saturday, before searching for a house the following day.
Akinbiyi was back at the club on Monday to sort out the terms of his departure, with his contract due to run until the summer.
And he is looking forward to a new challenge: "I'm a winner, really. I know a lot of people said something about my age, but I feel comfortable in saying I've got a couple of good years left in me, and I just want to settle down here as quickly as possible and get on with the team."
Coach Dominic Kinnear is delighted to have secured his services: "We felt that, looking at his resume and what he's done the last couple of years, that he can be a very important part of our team.
"He brings pace, power and strength, and that's the way we like to play."
