David Edgar will miss Burnley’s final league game of the season after flying back to Canada for the birth of his first child.

The Clarets defender has been granted compassionate leave as his fiancée is due to give birth this coming week.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche confirmed: “David asked if he could go home and I have absolutely no issue with that because family always comes first.”

Edgar will now return to pre-season training in late June, following his expected summer involvement in Canada’s CONCACAF Gold Cup fixtures.
