The Clarets broke their duck on Stoke City’s territory last time out in the Premier League as Danny Ings netted a brace in the opening quarter-of-an-hour.

Jonathan Walters pulled a goal back as the Clarets were forced to battle for maximum points.

“We had to work unbelievably hard for it, hang on right the way to the death to get that result,” said Dyche. “Stoke were a good side, as they are now. They’re still a strong side and they’ve proven that with one loss in eight.

“We understand the nature of the division, we know it’s really tough. We’ve made it quite clear - with results and performances - the way we go about our business at home. In simplistic form we have to take that mentality away.

“That doesn’t guarantee you a result but it gives you a better chance if you’re mentally right because the players are obviously physically right. We’ve got to deliver on both counts and then add in the tactics and the technical to get a result.”
