A POOR batting display saw Clitheroe slip to a disappointing home defeat against a ruthless Great Harwood side.
Clitheroe won the toss but after deciding to bat first were quickly dismissed for just 93 runs.
Only Tabassum Aziz (31) and Matthew Coulter (16) offered any sort resistance against the Great Harwood bowlers – for whom Syed Shahabuddin was the pick, finishing with figures of 6-38.
Great Harwood never looked in any serious trouble as they set out in reply and lost only four wickets as they easily reached the winning total within just under 33 overs.
Kashif Siddique picked up two wickets but the Clitheore bowling attack were put to the sword by Russell Whalley, who smashed 54 off 67 balls before he was dismissed by Andy Hutchins.
The defeat was Clitheore’s fifth league loss in a row and the Chatburn Road side will be desperate to start turning their season around when they take on Cherry Tree at home on Saturday.
