Children at a local nursery were overjoyed to receive a special Royal delivery.

The Queen sent a message to Whalley Meadows Forest School and Private Day Nursery, thanking the children for the hand-made card they sent for her 90th Birthday.

The card, from the Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting read: “The Queen wishes to thank you for the splendid card which you sent on the occasion of her 90th birthday.

“Her Majesty was very touched by the care taken to make the lovely card for her and appreciates your kind words. I am to send you the Queen’s best wishes and renewed thanks for your thoughts at this time.”

The children made the giant card themselves and signed their names with the help of nursery staff.

Manager Sue Chappell said: “The children were so excited when they received the message. They were all very proud of the card and it was kind of Buckingham Palace to take the time to acknowledge their hard work.”
