LETTER: Crossroads Care still needs your help

I would like to comment on the front page article in last week’s Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, about the award to Crossroads Care Ribble Valley from the Big Lottery Fund.

This grant is to three Crossroads Care schemes, East Lancashire, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.

While we are extremely grateful for our share of this money, I must point out Crossroads Care Ribble Valley covers a smaller population so the amount we receive is much less than Crossroads Care East Lancashire.

In fact, we will receive £72,000 over three years. While this information is contained in the detail of your report some readers may infer from the headline the whole of this grant is for Ribble Valley.

While we will make great use of this, we can only spend it on dementia care. I would like to assure readers we provide care and support to families with many different conditions, so we will still need the help of the people of the Ribble Valley who always support our fund-raising efforts so generously.

JOAN MYERS,

Trustee of Crossroads Care Ribble Valley.
