A former Town Mayor held a coffee morning to say thanks to the charity that is helping her family.

Val Cooper’s husband Gary was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last year and she is now his full time carer.

Val said: “We felt we needed some support after Gary’s diagnosis and got in touch with Crossroads. The carer’s daily visit is so important to us. Everyone we have met through them have been just marvellous with him.”

Crossroads Ribble Valley provides support to carers looking after family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.

The current Town Mayor Coun. Mark French was on hand to hand over the cheque for £260.20 from the proceeds of the coffee morning to Crossroads manager Jane Williamson and trustee Tom McClean.
