Ribble Valley Borough Council’s planning committee approved the plan for four small industrial buildings to house 21 starter units at the Mitton Road site.

The sidings in Whalley has been a flagship Ribble Valley site and a huge success. There are never any empty. This will hopefully bring new employment which is what we need

The units are to be 70sq. m. each in size and the application also included access improvements and extensive tree planting.

The existing commercial premises are to be demolished as part of the redevelopment.

Coun. Joyce Holgate said was positive about it on balance. She said: “I’m actually quite pleased that the plans went through, something needed to be done with that site.

“I think a couple of houses are likely to be affected by it but others have tried to get houses on there and failed before.
