Baa-humbug! Lambs born at Ribble Valley farm on Christmas Day

Here’s one delivery no-one was really expecting on Christmas Day!

While the rest of us were busy unwrapping woollen socks, hats and scarves on Christmas morning, there was a different kind of woolly present arriving at a farm in Chaigley.

These triplets must surely be the first of the new crop of lambs to arrive in the Ribble Valley, or maybe even in Lancashire – unless you know different.

Usually our local sheep farmers have to wait until early spring – or at least the back end of winter – for lambing time to begin.

But Gerard and Pam Gornall, of Armrydding Farm, Chaigley, are getting ahead of the game with these three Christmas Day arrivals. And we’re grateful to their daughter, Julie Bennett, for sending in these photos.

It puts a whole new slant on that well-worn festive phrase “Baaaaa Humbug!”
