Local animal portrait artist John Rotherham is currently giving exclusive live art demonstrations to visitors to the Bashall Barn visitor and retail centre near Bashall Eaves.
In April this year, after more than 20 years years of working nine-to-five, John Rotherham gave up his job to launch “Animal Pastel”. He creates stunning, unique animal portraits in soft pastel.
John’s work has been exhibited at trade shows locally and nationally and he has now teamed up with Bashall Barn to put on an exclusive show of demonstrations for visitors to the venue. A display will be in place until December 15th, with live art demonstrations taking place every Sunday between 10 am and 4 pm.
Simon Barnes, Managing Director at Bashall Barn, commented: “After being approached by John and seeing his artwork first hand, I immediately wanted to support him in his venture.
“With a shared love of animals and our venue being the perfect ‘local meeting place’, we thought it only right to give him a direct outlet to the local community.”
John’s business, based in Clitheroe, has got off to a great start and is gaining momentum. His partner, Cassandra Batterby, co-director of Animal Pastel, said: “The response from our customers has been amazing. We’ve been bowled over by the enthusiasm and support for our portraits and we look forward to seeing where the future will take us.”
It was a shared love of the arts that brought John and Cassandra together in September 2006. Nearly seven years on they are devoted to making their startup company the number one choice for animal portrait commissions.
