Cancer and the vital signs and symptoms to look for were highlighted at a fund-raising event for the East Lancs Hospice.

Hosted by the Patients’ Group at Blackburn’s Brownhill surgery, GP Dr Tom Phillips gave the All About Cancer presentation and group chairman Julie Foote, who is also owner of Right At Home homecare service which covers the Ribble Valley, introduced Dr Mike Kirby, a radiography expert who was instrumental in setting up the Rosemere Cancer Centre in Preston.

Dr Kirby gave a fascinating talk explaining the latest treatments. A brief information session explaining the role of the hospice was followed by a lively question and answer session.
