Vandals rip up trees in Clitheroe Castle grounds

POLICE have vowed to catch "mindless vandals" who attacked recently-planted trees in the Castle Grounds.

The seven lime trees, which were planted in January, were ripped out and strewn across the grounds.

Officers made the discovery last Monday and believe around 800-worth of damage has been caused.

PC Matthew Caton, of Clitheroe Police, is investigating the incident.

He said: "It's mindless damage to council property and shall not be tolerated. Anyone who saw the vandals attack the trees are being urged to come forward by calling us on 01200 443344. It's important the culprits are caught."
